Keeping America Safe
The failed Christmas Day terrorist attack has once again brought forth the issue of defeating terrorism and keeping Americans safe.
The Islamist terrorists are committed to the literal destruction of the United States and our way of life. Under the U.S. Constitution, defending our country is the primary function of the federal government, and I believe that defeating Islamic terrorism is the most critical mission confronting our leaders. Yet, sadly, given the way President Obama and liberals like Tim Walz are mismanaging the terrorism issue, defeating al Qaeda may be contingent upon reclaiming political power from the liberal Democrats.

The U.S. Economy and Jobs
Government’s responsibility concerning the U.S. economy and job market is to establish a sound business climate that fosters entrepreneurship and the private capital investment needed to create, expand, and maintain business – especially small business, the job-creating backbone of our free enterprise system.
The ultimate unemployment program is a private sector-created job. Why? Because government does not create wealth; government only redistributes and often squanders the wealth created by the private sector.

Energy Policy (Global Warming/Cap and Trade)
Energy is the lifeblood of our economy. Energy sustains our standard of living and way of life. Virtually every aspect of American life is dependent upon the abundant, stable supply of low-cost energy.
As a candidate for Congress, I support bold commonsense policies to empower the private sector to develop all available energy resources for the American people. My conservative philosophy on this key issue contrasts sharply with that of my liberal Democrat opponent, Tim Walz, as well as State Representative Randy Demmer, who voted at the federal and state levels, respectively, for global warming/Cap and Trade legislation.

Health Insurance Reform
The mammoth health reform bill now before the Congress is a monstrosity that will undermine private medical care in the United States, massively expand government, and stymie economic activity and private sector job creation. The bill will remove personal freedoms by imposing Washington, D.C. based control over our lives and livelihoods.
To add insult to injury, congressional Democrats are employing the most overzealous of efforts to pass this bill against the will of the people with an elitist attitude that demands we listen because they know what’s best.

Immigration/Border Security
Since our nation’s founding, the United States has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for those from other countries. And no wonder as our free-market economy, democratic ideals and religious freedom offer people the world over a system of governance superior to anything else that has ever existed. We are all immigrants to our great land and the United States must always serve as a home for political and economic freedom to the oppressed in other nations.
However, we have seen how near absolute power in one political party has negatively impacted our country. National Democrats seem intent to use their huge House and Senate majorities to ram through every conceivable bad idea imaginable. One of the leftist bills President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Tim Walz are likely to push is amnesty for illegal aliens.
